COBIT

Information Security Management.

Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT™), provides a framework for management, users, and audit, control and security practitioners to apply best practice for the control of information, IT and related risks.

COBIT guidance enables an enterprise to implement effective governance over IT infrastructure intrinsic to the workings of an enterprise. The standard includes over three hundred specific 'control objectives' and a framework and audit guides for 34 COBIT identified information technology processes. COBIT™ includes a range of support items and tools - performance measurement items to assess and measure the enterprise’s IT capability for the COBIT IT processes. The tools include:

• Performance measurement elements (outcome measures and performance drivers for all IT processes)
• A list of critical success factors that provides succinct, non-technical best practices for each IT process

The results of these can be compared against a list of critical success factors (CSF's) and maturity models for benchmarking supplied within the standard.
