The IBM Tivoli Netcool/Reporter 2.0 Designer course provides students with the ability to create templates which may subsequently be used to generate reports in a variety of formats such as text based reports, drill-down, bar chart, pie chart, three dimensional, and worksheet. Students will learn how to schedule and distribute reports.

An Oracle 8i instance, Netcool/OMNIbus v3.6, an Oracle Gateway and the Netcool/Reporter Server are preinstalled on each student-s Solaris8 workstation. The student learns how to access the Netcool/Reporter User Interface with a web browser. A variety of report templates will be generated and tested. All the Netcool/Reporter User features and functions will be taught.
Audience
Technical personnel who will use Netcool/Reporter version 2.0 to design and generate reporting information in a variety of formats sourced from Netcool/OMNIbus alerts data.
Prerequisites
Completion of the IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus 7.0 Administration and Configuration course is mandatory.
- Students should understand UNIX and possess an understanding of databases and SQL
- An appreciation of the Netcool ObjectServer alerts.status events and other tables is desirable
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, each student will understand how to use Netcool/Reporter version 2.0 to design report templates and subsequently generate reports and charts in all the possible formats. Students will:
- Learn how to access the User Interface with a web browser
- Learn how to navigate the User Interface
- Understand how to design templates for each type of report
- Know how to use each of the Design tabs
- Learn how to preview a report
- Learn the purpose of the Report properties
- Learn how to summarize data and provide drill-down capability
- Learn how to publish reports to Channels, Users and Groups
- Be able to use Lightweight Chart properties
- Be able to use the Freeform Report Designer
- Understand the differences among Crosstabs, Cubes and Presentations
- Be able to use the Information Designer in conjunction with Easy Reporter
- Schedule report generation
- Use the HTML Customizer
