IT Service Delivery

The Information Technology Information Library (ITIL), consists of a philosophy of standards and practices that are followed by enterprises worldwide to aid operational productivity and reliability.

Devised in recognition of the increased reliance on IT services from organisations of every size, ITIL Provide a structure within which to address every challenge facing IT systems in enterprises today. The guidelines set out by ITIL are an essential tool from which to achieve business goals and improve customer perception.

Originating as a government initiative in the United Kingdom, ITIL has been adopted globally as a benchmark for best practice in the provision and management of IT services. ITIL itself has been structured to complement and continue the working processes and philosophies defined by the British Standards Institute (BSI) - and in particular:

  • The BSI management Overview (PD0005)
  • BS 15000-1 (specification for service management)
  • BS 15000-2 (code of practice for service management)
