City University London - Single sign-on Technology

Challenge:
City University have been steadily moving towards web based applications for the delivery of services and they needed a solution to securely manage access for 25,000 students and staff. The solution had to provide single sign-on capabilities and integration between email, web, collaborative tools and the University's Moodle Virtual Learning Environment.
Solution:
The Pirean implemented security solution uses IBM Tivoli technology to enable the secure delivery of a range of portal and collaborative services to 25,000 staff and students of the university. In addition, customised training was provided to enable the University's technical team to support and adapt the solution in future.

The three month project delivered single sign-on capabilities for the University’s growing web application environment. The success of the project has reduced the cost associated with individually managing and maintaining the security of web applications. Furthermore, by implementing a fully resilient architecture the risk of unplanned downtime is also substantially reduced.

Oxfordshire County Council - Secure E-learning and Application Access

Challenge:
As a requirement of the Government Connect initiative and Data Protection Act, Oxfordshire County Council needed a solution to securely manage access to software applications for over 100,000 students and staff while streamlining access to digital resources at the county’s 285 educational facilities.
Solution:
Compliance: One, the Pirean solution built to provide a robust framework for complex Identity, Access and Audit Management functions, was used to save IT administrators hundreds of work hours while improving the end-user experience through offering a self-service provisioning solution from a centrally managed console. The solution provides clarity and control over which users can access which resources.

Through choosing Compliance:One, OCC will be able to manage the integrated secure single sign-on to users registered within 300 separate databases, simplifying the process for both administrators and end users as the system manages the security infrastructure which parents use to access the council’s systems remotely to monitor each child’s curriculum and progress.

Aviva UK - Web Services Development Platform

Challenge:
As part of their overall business transformation Aviva UK needed to migrate bespoke legacy applications onto a single standardised platform, in order to reduce the complexity and time to value of rolling out new business applications as well as to streamline the upkeep and maintenance of existing applications.
Solution:
Aviva’s requirement was for Pirean to design and implement a new standards-based IBM centric virtualisation platform, that enables an easy path to migration of legacy applications and a reduced lead time to deployment of new applications - a dramatic reduction was called for from an average of 6 months down to as few as 7 days.

Pirean's solution incorporates a number of features, including:

Universal Music Publishing Group - Royalty Portal

Challenge:
When Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) announced plans to rollout a ground-breaking online tool for its customer royalty administration system, the announcement made Universal Music Publishing Group the first major, global music publisher to unveil a proprietary online portal for royalty statement transmittal, analysis and tracking, capable of efficiently managing a large volume of global copyrights.

Dubbed RoyaltyWindow.com it required an equally original design for its security access and verification system. IBM recommended Pirean as its implementation partner.
Solution:
UMPG’s requirement was for Pirean to build an Access and Identity Management solution on the IBM Tivoli Identity Manager (ITIM), Access Manager for e-Business (ITAMEB) and Directory Integrator (ITDI) Software Components.

Pirean’s solution for the Access and Identity Management solution incorporates a number of features, including:
  • Reverse Proxy
  • Two Factor Authentication (2FA)
