Tivoli User Group
Pirean is a proud supporter of the Tivoli User Group
Comprising a community of IBM Tivoli experts independent of IBM, The Tivoli User Group is a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences with IBM Tivoli products and solutions.
Meeting every three to four months at IBM Bedfont lakes for highly focused one day events, the aims of the group are to enable users of Tivoli products to come together, exchange real world knowledge and in the process provide a collective independent voice listened to by Tivoli senior management.
Attendees at Tivoli User Group meetings have unique access to IBM subject matter experts, peer customer experts, senior IBM management executives, advanced IBM thinking (subject to NDA) and free IBM certification.
As active members of the Tivoli User Group, Pirean contribute by providing invaluable practical insight and support in focusing the group on the challenges facing IT driven business, as well as expert-led presentations by some of the most qualified IT Service Management and Security consultants working with Tivoli Today.
"Pirean have a long standing commitment to the Tivoli User Group, and as a premier partner of IBM, provide valuable input into the content, agenda and speakers to ensure the event is always a great success," comments Pirean General Manager Mark Fieldhouse. "Pirean believe that the User Group represents a significant opportunity for customers, partners and IBM employees to come together to discuss the merits of IBM Tivoli Software, Industry experience, solutions, deployment experience, new technology among many other subjects - and Pirean are excited to remain close to this important event and group."
The next Tivoli User Group event takes place on wednesday, May 26th at IBM Bedfont Lakes and features a security track held by the experts at Pirean. To join us there, Click here
Tivoli User Group, May 26th 2010
Pirean are delighted to be running the Security track at the IBM Tivoli User Group on the 26th May at IBM Bedfont Lakes. Consisting of four sessions, the security track will cover a wide range of customer, new technology and deployment experiences:
- IBM Tivoli Security & Service Transformation at Aviva
This session presents a case study of a leading insurance provider deploying business-critical, web-based applications; and their requirement for a more strategic approach to delivery, encompassing security, access control and management; all delivered in line with ITIL best practice. With this blueprint approach to every development project, organisations are able to realize significant cost and process benefits while minimising the risk of unsecured “rogue” applications causing unforeseen problems in the future. The solution leverages Tivoli Identity Manager (ITIM), Tivoli Access Manager (ITAM), Tivoli Directory Integrator (TDI), Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) and Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus.
- IBM Tivoli Identity Manager / Service Desk integration
This session describes a solution for integration of Identity Management services with the Service Desk – an increasingly vital requirement for many IdM projects. Our solution leverages an integration broker called the SMBUS (SMIT). This Tivoli Ready Extension from Pirean provides intelligent integration between the solution portfolio and the Service Desk for an intelligent automated process, raising tickets within the Service Desk or responding to requests with actions such as automatically provisioning or updating user information.
- IBM Security Services - implementing E2E security solutions with Tivoli and the ISS software portfolio
Following the recent alignment of the IBM security solution portfolio, this session looks at the full range of IBM Internet Security Solutions (ISS) that are now aligned with the Tivoli Security suite. This session provides an overview of the ISS software portfolio and discusses the many options now available for providing extended end-to-end enterprise security solutions across additional areas such as intrusion prevention & detection, data and application security, and vulnerability and threat management.
- Securing your Virtual Environment
Today, we recognise that IT infrastructures are increasingly becoming more complex and that the adoption of virtual server technology has reached a certain level of maturity. For customers running these virtual environments however – can you provide assurance that the same levels of security are in place as you would have in a non-virtualised environment? How do we watch the network? Where are my VMs located? Are they moving around? What is our change control policy? Are the VMs patched? Is the hypervisor secure? Who is responsible for security?
Chances are, there will be at least a few gaps in the responses to the above. This session discusses these issues for securing virtual environments, and presents solutions for providing the controls required from the IBM toolset. The session also includes details of case studies for successful implementations of these solutions.
