Directory Server

IBM Tivoli Directory Server is a security-rich and standards-compliant Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) identity infrastructure that forms the basis for comprehensive identity management applications and advanced software architectures like Web services across corporate intranets and the Internet.

Enabling Web applications with strong security and identity management initiatives, Tivoli Directory Server allows organisations to choose their own authentication strategy from simple user ID and password authentication to digital certificate-based authentication.

Tivoli Directory Server delivers fine grained access control filters that extend to attribute level to enable self service and delegated administration while also offering protection of access control list (ACL) values within the directory.

Features include:

IBM Tivoli Directory Server also includes a Simple Authentication Security Layer (SASL) plug-in interface, including Challenge-Response Authentication Mechanism MD5 (CRAM-MD5) and Kerberos authentication if required.

DSML V2 support Extends the reach of the directory to web services allowing customers to make changes to directory data themselves over the Internet rather than calling in to customer service.

Tivoli Directory Server also features a flexible server plug-in framework and client SDK with support for 64-bit AIX and JavaTM access via a standard J2EE interface.
