Monitoring the Payment Gateway at a Major Bank
Pirean worked with a major bank to create an integrated dashboard solution providing visibility of the hardware and operating systems servicing a payment gateway for their extensive retail and corporate customer base. Pirean also provides post-implementation support through its innovative Solution Assured programme.
The Challenge
To provide critical monitoring of a new Payment Gateway developed by the Bank’s UK division.
The Payment Gateway, which replaced legacy systems, handles transactions worth millions of pounds every day. Being a critical system for the Bank, it was imperative that any processing failures were quickly alerted so a prompt action could be taken. Monitoring of individual software elements in isolation could not deliver the level of visibility the Bank required or allow them to quickly identify and resolve any complex issues effecting the delivery of service.
The Solution
The Pirean implemented solution is based on IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.2.2 and various components of the IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager suite. The solution provided a single dashboard to allow the Bank to quickly respond to any disruption issues and deliver a complete real-time overview of this critical service.
The new Payment Gateway is built from several software components and interfaces with external data from mainframe and third party sources. The Availability Monitoring solution provides visibility of hardware and operating systems and is currently being extended to messaging and database to enable the bank to assess the true impact of any component outage.
The Pirean solution delivers a single dashboard which provides a view of events across the Production Primary, Production Secondary and DR Environments with the ability to drill-down to the detailed events within any specific area to assist in analysis and troubleshooting.
The Bank is also benefiting from Pirean’s Solution Assured support program - post-implementation support is delivered by the people who really understand the Bank’s environment.
